Recently the Ohio Masonry Association participated in a masonry educational 3 stop program. Dr. Kurt Helgesen and his Tech Assistant, John from St. Cloud University Minnesota, drove their truck and 40-foot trailer down to Ohio and visited 3 Career Tech schools in 3 days. The trailer contained a MULE (Material Unit Lift Enhancer) and a SAM (Semi-Automatic Mason) which allowed participating students a hands-on experience. An OMA Board member, Joe Cunningham, volunteered to set up a brick laying and a CMU laying station at each school. Every student had the opportunity to get a trowel in hand and get a better understanding of the craft. The schools also allowed students from their robotics classes to take part in the SAM & MULE experience as well.
OMA would like to thank the schools involved for making this a big success!
