Call for Papers 2016
107th Annual Eastern Communication Association Convention
107th Annual ECA Convention
[R]evolution: Baltimore
Baltimore, Maryland
March 31-April 3, 2016
Submission Deadline: Thursday, October 15, 2015
The Communication Law and Ethics Division of the Eastern Communication Association invites the submission of competitive papers, thematic program/panel proposals, and innovative programming alternatives (e.g., roundtables, symposia, debates, open forums, and community programs) for the ECA's 107th annual convention.
The convention theme is [R]evolution. Submissions which reflect the theme of [R]evolution by exploring courageous, radical, and/or pervasive change within nonverbal communication scholarship, methodology, theoretical frameworks, contexts, research foci, and/or data analysis techniques are particularly welcome. Similarly, panels that are co-sponsored with other interest groups will receive special consideration.
Generally, the Communication Law and Ethics division seeks submissions from a wide range of communication scholars and researchers who all, in some way, examine issues of ethics and/or law within their disciplines. The division welcomes submissions from those who critique, examine, discuss, and/or analyze law and/or ethics in media studies, technology, interpersonal communication, gender studies, critical race theory, rhetoric, cultural studies, feminist theory, and all other areas of scholarly interest and research in communication. The division also welcomes non-academic professionals from a variety of related fields as well as emerging and seasoned scholars outside of communication who have an interest in communication law and/or ethics.
With the focus on [r]evolution, the division is particularly interested in discussions and critiques of national and international events that deal with the rapid changes in the communication landscape. We are especially interested in paper submissions that focus the legal and ethical issues of privacy, big data, surveillance, national security, criminal procedure, policing and justice.
All submissions must be sent via e-mail, with attachment(s) in MS Word, to the 2015 Program Planner: Jason Zenor, SUNY-Oswego, jason.zenor@oswego.edu
