August Wilson (1945-2005) was an African-American playwright and poet. He was born in Pittsburgh and won multiple Pulitzer Prizes and a Tony Award for his plays that depicted life in the city (known as his "Pittsburgh Cycle"). His childhood home is just blocks from the ECA conference hotel. Tour participants will travel by minibus to the places where Wilson lived and worked, meeting individuals who knew him intimately. Light refreshments and complimentary copies of L.A. Glasco and C. Rawson's book AUGUST WILSON: PITTSBURGH PLACES IN HIS LIFE AND PLAYS will be provided.
