**CALL FOR PAPERS**
INTERPERSONAL COMMUNICATION INTEREST GROUP
112th EASTERN COMMUNICATION ASSOCIATION CONVENTION
“Resilience”
Cambridge, MA March 24-28, 2021
The Interpersonal Communication Interest Group is seeking paper and panel submissions for ECA's 112th Annual Convention to be held at the Hyatt Regency Cambridge from March 24-28, 2021. The convention will center on overcoming obstacles, adapting, and thriving despite challenges. We encourage interpersonal communication research that examines resilience across all types of personal relationships, interaction processes, and methodological approaches.
Paper and panel/program submissions must be received by 11:59pm (PST) on October 15, 2020.
ECA uses Attendee Interactive to manage submissions and reviews. You will be prompted to create a User ID and Password to submit your work. An email will be sent to the membership in the next couple of months to announce when Attendee Interactive will be open for submission. Additional information, including a link to the submission page, will be sent to ECA members on the day the submission website opens.
In keeping with the theme of resilience, please consider ways that interpersonal scholars and teachers respond to challenges in our research and in the classroom. We invite two types of submissions.
Submission Guidelines for Completed Papers:
Individual papers are completed papers that report original research, provide an extensive literature review, or showcase some other form of scholarship. Papers should be no more than 25 double-spaced pages, use Times New Roman font and 1-inch margins (excluding title page, abstract, references, and appendices), and comply with the guidelines set forth in APA 7th edition.
Complete paper submissions should include the following elements:
Submission Guidelines for Panel/Program Proposals:
In addition to traditional panel submissions in which three to four speakers present individual papers on a specific topic area, please consider submitting panels that are unique in composition and format. For instance, you might consider proposing a workshop session led by two or three experts on a particular topic with audience involvement and participation. You might also consider submitting a round table discussion featuring 5-8 presenters who share a position on a focused topic moderated by a chair with interaction and discussion by participants and audience members. Submissions should comply with APA 7th edition.
Submissions of panel/program proposals should include the following elements in one MS Word or PDF file:
You must include the following Statement of Professional Responsibility with all papers and proposals:
In submitting the attached paper or proposal, I/We recognize that this submission is considered a professional responsibility. I/We agree to present this panel or paper if it is accepted and programmed. I/We further recognize that all who attend and present at ECA’s annual meeting must register and pay required fees.
Presenters are encouraged to present without technology. Please note that a paper or panel should only be submitted to a single interest group.
Please contact Mary King at mking@bloomu.edu if you have programming ideas or questions about the submission process. For additional information about the convention, including short courses and other programming, please see the ECA website available at www.ecasite.org
