116th Eastern Communication Association Annual Convention

Theme: "Contemporary Problems, Creative Solutions"  
Submission deadline: Oct 16, 2024

The 2025 convention theme is Contemporary Problems, Creative Solutions. In our ever-changing world, contemporary problems and issues need to be addressed with creative solutions.

Your submission should be based on an activity, assignment, project, game, or simulation you have successfully used in the classroom. The activity should address specific communication theory(s), concept(s), skill(s), learning objective(s), or student engagement appropriate to the communication discipline at the college classroom level.

Guidelines for Submission: 

1. Choose a “Great Idea” you have successfully used in the classroom.
2. Create a well-written, mistake-free proposal that includes the following:
• The title of your activity
• The course(s) for which it is intended
• The goals and objectives of the activity
• A rationale for conducting this particular activity
• Directions for the activity, including
1. any preparation/preliminary steps &/or materials needed
2. an explanation of the connection to concepts, theory, and/or skills covered in the activity
• Typical results
• How to debrief the activity
3. The proposal should be no more than 1-2 pages long. If relevant, a reference list may be included.
4. Indicate any technology needs. Reasonable requests for technology support will not be met unless they accompany the proposal submission. Please note that equipment rental is very expensive, and requests are not automatically guaranteed.
5. A statement of professional responsibility (see below).

Submissions must follow these guidelines, or they will not be considered.
