The program will focus on the following:
Foundations of LGBTQ+ terminology, the importance of pronouns, ands aspects of allyship. The terminology reviewed covers gender identity, sex assigned at birth, orientation, the LGBTQIA+ acronym, and gender expression.
Elements of LGBTQ+ experience, such as coming out, transition, and visibility, will also be covered.
Participants will learn what pronouns are, how to ask for someone’s pronouns, and how to correct someone / themselves if they make a mistake, how to avoid microaggression.
The allyship section covers what allyship is and actionable steps for being an effective ally at home and in the workplace.
Participants will learn how to build a more inclusive workplace and the connections to company policies and hiring practices - suggestions for HR forms / checklist of best practices; this training can be customized to work with your organization’s DEI goals and policies. Writing company policies, hiring practices, HR forms, etc., with the LGBTQ+ 101 & Allyship portion of the presentation being used as an introduction / educational piece to those topics.
There will be time allocated to provide an overview of the terminology, pronouns, and others details that can set the stage to better understand the company practices.
There will be time allotted for overall Q&A.
