ECA Student Committee Update - ECA member assists with Student Chapter session - 11/6/25

The ECA Student Committee would like to thank Matt Kamber, Project Manager, Gurtz Electric Co. for his special presentation held during a NECA-Illinois Tech (formerly IIT) Student Chapter session on Thursday, November 6, 2025.

Mr. Kamber was a former Illinois Tech student that participated with the Student Chapter.  He was also able to visit the NECA Convention in 2022 through the sponsorship of the ECA Student Committee.  At that time, he was able to meet with representatives of Gurtz Electric Co. for a potential internship, but was then hired full-time. 

Matt's presentation gave a background of the diversity of projects Gurtz Electric Co. has completed over the years, including the St. Regis Hotel, 400 Lake Shore Drive, and project(s) for the Village of Rosemont, IL.  He discussed the importance of consistent communication on the jobsite / projects that is needed between the owner / general contractor with the General Foremen with the Project Manager(s), as well as with those in the field and office.  Again, we thank Matt for his assistance!

We also wish the students good luck as the NECA-Illinois Tech Student Chapter is soon to start on the 2026 Electrical Contracting Innovation Challenge (ECIC).
