Farm Background 9.8.26

About the program: Family farms represent an essential part of Ohio's economy. These multi-generational businesses face unique challenges when transitioning to the next generation. The emotional connection to the farm, family dynamics, farm finances, and massive asset values create an environment for conflict and farm loss. This session will explore the features of Ohio agriculture and family farms, common pitfalls that occur in farm succession plans, tools to help achieve client goals, and recommendations for saving the family farm.

Ryan Conklin Headshot Updated

About the speaker:  Ryan Conklin joined Wright & Moore in August 2015 and became president of the firm in January 2022. Raised on his family’s small dairy farm in Plain City, he earned a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture from Ohio State University, a Master of Science in Agricultural Education from the University of Florida, and a Juris Doctor from Michigan State College of Law.

At Wright & Moore, Ryan leads the farm succession team, overseeing intergenerational and intra-family farm transfers for clients across Ohio. He lives in Delaware with his wife, Anna, and their assorted animals. Outside the office, Ryan enjoys golfing, skiing, watching college football, and tackling projects around the house.
