Job Summary: The ideal candidate will combine the trifecta of systems knowledge, a heart for serving clients, and a passion for investments. As a member of The Joseph Group’s Investment Team, the Investment Operations Associate (IOA) will implement the firm’s investment strategies across client accounts and platforms. The IOA will become a super user of our trade rebalancing and portfolio management software and will monitor portfolio allocations to make sure portfolios are in line with TJG’s target allocations. Having knowledge of market mechanics and/or previous trading experience with equities, ETFs, and mutual funds is a plus. The IOA will also work closely with our Client Service Excellence Team to make sure tasks are completed and seek to exceed client expectations. The IOA will serve as a member of The Joseph Group’s Compliance Team and will help with a variety compliance functions as well as assist with the compilation and reporting of business metrics.
Duties and Responsibilities:
o Buy and sell securities as needed within client accounts to raise cash, invest deposits, or satisfy needs o Collaborate with TJG’s Service Excellence Team to ensure efficient completion of tasks o Oversee consistent construction of model portfolios and trading within those models while combining the science of model construction with the art of what may be best for the client o Execute block trades across portfolios and platforms as when portfolio changes are determined by the Investment Committee using TJG’s trade rebalancing software o Understand mutual fund share classes and systematize the selection of the appropriate share class for the client situation; on a monthly basis, execute Schwab share class exchange for clients who would benefit from institutional share classes o Ensure all securities are coded correctly in our Portfolio Management and trading systems o Regularly monitor individual account portfolio allocations and make sure portfolios are within tolerance with the target portfolio o Regularly monitor aggregate position allocations and work with investment team to determine execution of block rebalancing; document quarterly dispersion analysis o Maintain data and produce reports concerning the investment lineup, allocation, and implementation of the firm’s portfolios across platforms o Document accounts with non-model holdings and address appropriately with Advisors o Serve as a member of the Compliance Team and assist firm’s Chief Compliance Officer with compliance documentation including trade logs, best execution, maintaining the firm’s client list, documenting Team Member quarterly transaction reports and other reporting o Work with Service Excellence Team on the execution of quarter-end processes including client billing and reporting o Assist the firm’s Chief Operating Officer with compilation and reporting of business metrics Qualifications: The Investment Operations Associate position typically requires the following qualifications: • To embrace and live our Core Values of Integrity, Teamwork, Humility, Excellence, and Enthusiasm • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university • Expertise in Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel.
