Bring Me The News

Law enforcement's pursuit of a bank robbery suspect prompted a precautionary lockdown at Pine Island School Friday.

The Pine Island Bank reported an attempted robbery to authorities around 10 a.m., the Goodhue County Sheriff's Office said. As the search for the suspect unfolded, Pine Island School went into lockdown "as a precaution," the sheriff's office said.

Shortly after the attempted robbery, a deputy spotted an individual who matched the suspect's description, driving on a road west of Pine Island.

The suspect vehicle then headed south, and was eventually pulled over at around 10:20 a.m., according to the sheriff's office.

The deputy arrested the suspect, and authorities determined the person was also believed to be involved in a robbery in Rochester earlier Friday morning. That incident occurred at Sterling State Bank around 9:40 a.m., the Post-Bulletin reports, with the suspect departing with an unspecified amount of cash.
