Sanborn Bank Robber Gets 15 Years

Northwest Iowa Now

Sioux City, IA (northwestiowanow.com) — The Chicago man who knocked off the bank in Sanborn last year has plead guilty and has been sentenced to 15 years in federal prison.

Authorities say 40-year-old Del Evans Junior walked into Sanborn Savings Bank at 1pm January 22nd, 2024, handed the teller a note demanding money, fled with the loot, and went into his residence down the street. He peacefully surrendered after authorities from the O’Brien County Sheriff’s Department; Sanborn, Hartley, and Sheldon Police Departments; and the Iowa State Patrol set up a perimeter and called him out. The clothing he wore during the robbery, the bank’s money, and the torn-up note were found inside.
