IHCNO made a powerful impact at this year’s H3IT Conference (Home Health and Hospice Information Technology), held on November 1 in New Orleans (USA). This international gathering of health tech leaders, clinicians, and researchers brought critical focus to the future of home and community-based care — and IHCNO was front and center.
📍 Morning Keynote: Olga F. Jarrín Montaner, PhD, RN, FAAN (IHCNO Secretary)
Hunterdon Professor of Nursing Research at Rutgers University
“Advancing Upstream Approaches: Designing a Home Health System Aligned with What Matters Most”
Dr. Jarrín delivered a powerful keynote tracing over a decade of research into the systems that shape life at home in our final chapters. She challenged attendees to design with intention — making the case for upstream investments in the home health workforce, data-informed access pathways, and a tech-enabled infrastructure that delivers dignity, equity, and more days at home.
🌐 IHCNO members and collaborators also contributed cutting-edge presentations:
Kathy Duckett (IHCNO board member) & Mary Narayan (IHCNO co-founder) presented “Developing the Next Generation Home EMR Using Nursing Expertise and AI” — a visionary approach to embedding frontline nursing knowledge into tech design from the start.
Sang Bin You, Miriam Ryvicker, Yolanda Barron, and Kathryn H. Bowles (IHCNO member), presented “Lost in Transition: Who Gets Sepsis Documented in Home Health Care?” — revealing vital insights into documentation gaps, care transitions, and patient safety in home health settings.
As global momentum builds for tech-driven solutions in aging and home care, IHCNO continues to champion the role of nursing leadership and expertise at every level of innovation.
