Joseph F. Coughlin, PhD, is founder and director of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology AgeLab. He teaches in MIT’s Department of Urban Studies & Planning and the Sloan School’s Advanced Management Program. Coughlin is a recipient of the Maxwell A. Pollack Award for Productive Aging — one of the highest honors bestowed by the Gerontological Society of America for translating research into practice and was named a Home Health Hero by the Visiting Nurse Association for his work in telemedicine and telecare.
