ODM Shares Quality Measure Changes

Several changes included in HB 166, Ohio’s budget bill, modified the existing quality measures used to calculate the portion of the Medicaid base rate. These changes included:

At its monthly meeting with LeadingAge Ohio, the Ohio Department of Medicaid shared that based on the past two years’ surveys (2017 and 2018), 472 nursing facilities would have received the point based on 2017 resident survey data, and 234 nursing facilities would have received the point based on 2018 family survey data. The rules are anticipated to take effect in February. ODM confirmed that those nursing facilities that have insufficient response rates to have a score will not be awarded the quality point.
