Bill to allow TNAs awaiting certification to continue working

A new bill, Building America’s Health Care Workforce Act, extends a Section 1135 waiver, and allows temporary nurse aides (TNA) that are awaiting certification the opportunity to have the time relating to working in a nursing home to count toward the federal 75-hour training requirement. The bill reflects the anticipation that nationwide, nurse aide testing centers will experience a backlog as all of the TNAs who have been working during the pandemic rush to schedule their tests ahead of the October deadline following the end of the TNA waiver.
