LeadingAge Ohio member Genesis Hospice has begun construction on Straker House, a new inpatient hospice facility that will replace the Morrison House in Zanesville.
Morrison House, a seven-bed center, had reached the end of its usable life. Rather than renovate and temporarily suspend inpatient services, Genesis launched a capital campaign to build a modern facility that better supports families and staff.
What’s coming:
Genesis CEO Matthew Perry said the expansion was “absolutely critical,” noting the new center will offer more space, improved resources for staff, and a more supportive environment for patients and families.
Genesis has provided hospice care for more than 35 years, offering memorial and veterans programs, bereavement services, Pet Peace of Mind, and music and pet therapies. Straker House is anticipated to open in fall 2026.
LeadingAge Ohio congratulates Genesis Healthcare on this significant investment in compassionate, mission-driven end-of-life care for the region.
