ODH Shares Process on Required Notification of RCF Infection Control Designee
The newly revised rules, Ohio Administrative Code (OAC) 3701-16-12(D), requires each residential care facility (RCF) to appoint an individual with knowledge of the facility's infection control plans to serve as an infection control designee and provide that individual's name and contact information, including an email address, on an electronic system prescribed by the director.
This week, the Ohio Department of Health (ODH) shared that the infection control designee's name and email address can now be entered by each RCF in the Enhanced Information Dissemination and Collection (EIDC) system under the demographics tab. ODH encourages residential care facilities to ensure this information is entered as soon as possible, as well as updated when staffing changes occur. However, ODH has noted that there is a technical issue with viewing the fields for some providers. ODH is working with IT staff on resolving the issue and will send another notice when the issue is resolved.
