ODH shares new reporting guidance
During the Ohio Department of Health (ODH) association meeting call on October 18, ODH stated they would be sending out an EIDC notice to all providers with a change to the facility-report process (FRI) to be in compliance with the updated State Operations Manual Chapter 5 – Compliant Process. ODH is working on an interim process until their electronic system can be updated.
Early this morning, ODH shared the following process, consistent with the exhibit 358 form, to providers via the EIDC system:
With the new Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) changes being implemented on October 24 related to Abuse, Neglect, and Misappropriation reporting, some changes are necessary to ensure providers are able to report all the required information to ODH. Currently the application in EIDC does not have fields to allow all required information to be entered. As a result, a temporary process will be implemented until the computer system upgrades are complete to allow additional information to be entered.
Starting on Monday, October 24, providers will need to follow the following instructions and utilize the attached forms when completing SRIs.
For the initial SRI reporting:
- Submit the initial SRI with the normal fields in EIDC. Make note of the SRI number.
- Complete the SRI initial form that includes all the new required information for the initial reporting. Both the initial reporting in EIDC and the initial form is requiredwith every initial SRI.vt
- E-mail the form to BLTCQ@odh.ohio.gov and include the SRI number, provider name, and CCN or license number in the subject line.
- Attach the initial form to your final SRI report in EIDC.
For the final SRI reporting:
- Complete the final SRI sections in CALS.
- Complete the attached SRI Final form that includes all required information for final reporting.
- Attach the SRI Final form and SRI initial form under the attachments in the final SRI module.
If the manager reviews the initial SRI and determines that all the required information is not present, the provider will be emailed and allowed 2 hours for a response. If no response is received, the manager will proceed with the triage of the SRI based on the information available. ODH encourages providers to refer to Chapter 5 of the State Operations Manual for information on how initial SRIs without required information will be triaged. This could include onsite visits within 3 business days.
LeadingAge Ohio encourages providers to ensure they are noting how they immediately protected the involved resident and any other residents in that initial report. LeadingAge Ohio will discuss this further during the monthly Survey Tips and Tactics (STAT) call.
