HB750 to Increase Access to PACE Programs in Ohio

Legislation aimed at increasing access to the Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE) has been introduced in the Ohio House of Representatives.

Ohio House Bill 750, sponsored by Representatives Bill Roemer and Andrea White, would direct the Ohio Department of Aging to issue a request for proposals by the end of 2026 for organizations interested in establishing new PACE programs in areas of the state that currently lack access to the model.

PACE provides comprehensive medical and social services to frail older adults who qualify for nursing facility–level care but are able to remain living in their homes and communities with coordinated support.

The legislation was developed in collaboration with the PACE Association of Ohio and is intended to create a clearer pathway for making the model available in additional parts of the state.

Supporters note that PACE can serve as a cost-effective alternative to institutional care by allowing eligible older adults to receive coordinated care while remaining in their homes and communities.

The sponsors and stakeholders hope the measure will receive hearings this spring and could potentially be incorporated into other legislation moving through the legislature before the end of the 136th General Assembly.
