New ODH Training Addresses CPR and Advance Directive Compliance

For the past two years, F678, Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation, has ranked among the top 10 immediate jeopardy citations resulting in resident harm. To help nursing facilities reduce risk and address recurring deficiencies, the Ohio Department of Health’s Provider Resources & Education Program has developed Advanced Directives and CPR in Long-term Care Facilities, a new training focused on identifying gaps in advance directive and CPR practices and meeting Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services requirements and Ohio rules.

Facilities can also use a new self-audit tool to examine their current advance directive and CPR practices and identify areas that may need attention. The training is available free of charge and offers continuing education credit for physicians, nurses, social workers, dietitians, and nursing home administrators.
