8. Why are investigations made?

When an investigation is made by Wage-Hour enforcement officers, it is made generally for one of three reasons:

(1) An employee or a competitor has sent in a complaint on you;

(2) You may have been in violation previously and examiners revisit firms as the Department deems necessary;

(3) It may be merely a spot check to see whether segments of a certain industry are complying with the law.
