As you know, the local public health workforce is the backbone of our nation's public health system. The Public Health Workforce Loan Repayment Program represents a recognition of that importance by offering loan repayment for public health professionals who agree to serve at least three years in a local, state, or tribal health department, incentivizing individuals to pursue careers in public health.
Recently, legislation to reauthorize this program was introduced in the House as H.R. 4445, and we expect that a Senate companion is forthcoming.
