Reminder - Take Action: Ask Congress For Public Health Funding in FY27
Local health departments are working diligently to keep communities healthy and safe in the face of concurrent public health challenges, major international events, and ongoing outbreaks. As you know, federal investments are key to local health department's ability to effectively provide crucial services, protect people, and prepare for and prevent costly emergencies. As the House of Representatives works on the bill that provides funding for federal health agencies, we need your help to ensure that Congress allocates robust funding levels for the upcoming fiscal year. As a local leader, you are an important and trusted source of information for federal policymakers. Sustained, predictable federal funding represents a commonsense investment from Congress that can secure the health of families and protect the economic prosperity of communities across the country.

Ebola Outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Uganda: Resources for Local Health Departments
On May 19, CDC issued a Health Alert Network (HAN) Advisory about an outbreak of Ebola virus disease (EVD) caused by the Bundibugyo virus in Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and Uganda. On May 15, CDC issued a Level 1 Travel Health Notice for people traveling to Uganda and a Level 3 Travel Health Notice for people traveling to DRC. NACCHO is actively monitoring the situation and working to ensure local health departments have the timely information and resources they need to respond. Designed for multiple experience levels, the track supports departments that are just beginning to explore AI as well as those already piloting tools. Sessions center on what AI can and cannot do today—helping teams cut through the hype, assess readiness, and make informed, responsible decisions. Join a Listening Session at NACCHO360: Help Shape How Local Health Departments Support Family Caregivers
Join NACCHO, the National Academy for State Health Policy (NASHP), and The John A. Hartford Foundation for an in-person listening session at NACCHO360 on Thursday, July 16 from 1:30 to 3:00 PM. This session will explore how local health departments are supporting family caregivers of older adults and people with disabilities in their communities. Space is limited, so register today. NASHP is seeking local health department staff to share insights on current programs, alignment with the National Strategy to Support Family Caregivers, key challenges, and resource needs. Register for a Focus Group: How Local Health Departments Serve Military-Connected Families
Altarum Institute, in partnership with NACCHO, invites local health department professionals to join a 75-minute virtual focus group exploring how LHDs serve military-connected families. Active-duty Service members, National Guard and Reserve members, veterans, and their families often rely on a mix of VA, TRICARE, and community-based health services. Local health departments play a critical but sometimes underrecognized role in supporting this population. We want to hear from you about your experiences, the challenges you face, and the tools or resources that would help you better serve military-connected families in your community.
