To better support the needs of the Local Public Health Workforce, The Office of Local and Regional Health, The Local Public Health Training Hub Program, and the Division of Food Protection are partnering to create a voluntary FDA Standardization of Retail Food Safety Inspection Personnel Training Pathway ("FDA Standardization Pathway") for Local Public Health.
This voluntary pathway will support local health departments who are pursuing or are interested in pursuing FDA standardization in meeting Standard 2 (Trained Regulatory Staff) while also creating a streamlined pathway for all of Massachusetts local public health to meet the Workforce Standards for Food Inspections.
Impact:
Starting immediately, FDA Food Protection Courses are no longer required as part of Tier 1 Food Training through the Local Public Health Training Program. Instead, these will be embedded into the FDA Standardization Pathway.
If you are already enrolled in Tier 1, this change will already be reflected in your TRAIN account. To see your current Tier 1 Food status, log into your TRAIN account and navigate to Your Learning > Your Training Plans.
