MSHO members are invited to partner with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society for a day of advocacy in Lansing on May 17th.

On Tuesday, May 17, cancer advocates are heading to Lansing to meet with legislators and ask them to support legislation to limit patient costs. We're speaking out in support of Senate Bill 625, which would finally bring relief to patients struggling to cover the cost of their lifesaving treatments.

Will you join us?

Who: Cancer patients, their loved ones, and concerned advocates who believe that patients deserve access to affordable cancer treatments.

What: Join LLS staffers as we meet with Michigan legislators to share our stories and show why it's important that the state legislature take action on this issue.

Why: Talking face-to-face with elected officials is a tremendously powerful way to earn their support - not just on SB 625, but on all matters that affect blood cancer patients and their families. If enough of us share our stories and our message of support, we can get this bill passed during this legislative session!

When: Tuesday, May 17, training beginning at 8:30 AM

Where: Radisson Hotel- Lansing at the Capitol: 111 N. Grand Avenue, Lansing, MI 48933

SB 625 is critical to helping cancer patients in Michigan access their treatments by making oral anti-cancer therapies more affordable. Many new cancer drugs which cause fewer side effects are taken as a pill in the comfort of a patient's home instead of more traditional IV chemo treatments administered at a doctor's office. But these new oral treatments are not covered equally by insurance and since they have no IV equivalent, patients are forced to pay thousands of dollars out-of-pocket to get the medication they need to survive and stay healthy.

I hope you'll join us in standing with Michigan cancer patients on May 17. Together, we can help ensure that the bill is signed into law before the end of the year!
