Dr. Shruti Jolly is a radiation oncologist and a Professor at the University of Michigan/Michigan Medicine. Born in India and having emigrated to the United States at the age of eight, Shruti spent her early years in Brooklyn, New York. At age twelve, her family made the move to Southeast Michigan, a state she has since called home and where she cultivated a connection to the community and its medical needs. Her interest in oncology stemmed from her volunteer work in Detroit as a medical student at Wayne State University. These formative years were instrumental in shaping her resolve to confront the challenges of cancer care and to strive to make a meaningful difference in the lives of patients.
Having completed her Executive MBA at the University of Michigan Ross School of Business recently, Dr. Jolly skillfully integrates her clinical expertise with strategic business knowledge to advance healthcare delivery. As the Associate Medical Director of Strategy at Michigan Medicine, Dr. Jolly leads statewide cancer strategies and systems integration. Additionally, she oversees the delivery of radiation therapy across Michigan Medicine clinics throughout the state as the Associate Chair for Community Practices in Radiation Oncology. Dr. Jolly's clinical focus lies in thoracic and endocrine malignancies and the application of High Dose Rate (HDR) brachytherapy for gynecologic cancers. Her dedication to research is evident in her role as the principal investigator for several clinical trials aiming to personalize radiation therapy and improve patient quality of life, culminating in numerous peer-reviewed publications.
On the MSHO board, Dr. Jolly promotes the enhancement and accessibility of high-quality cancer care across Michigan. Her leadership within the Michigan Radiation Oncology Quality Consortium (MROQC) notably impacts the quality of radiation therapy, particularly in lung cancer treatments. Recognized for her excellence in teaching and mentorship, Dr. Jolly has received multiple awards. She also shares her knowledge nationally and internationally as a speaker at key forums discussing current oncological challenges and innovations.
Away from her professional endeavors, Shruti values family time spent with her husband and their two teenage daughters. They love traveling and exploring new cultures. Possessing a creative spirit, she enjoys painting and has organized painting get-togethers for her mentees, colleagues, and friends. Her art has been featured on the cover of the International Journal of Radiation Oncology Biology and Physics.
