Mohammad Omaira, M.D.

Dr. Mohammad Omaira was born and raised in Damascus, Syria. He earned a Doctor of Medicine degree from Damascus University School of Medicine in 2005. He then came to the United States to continue medical education. In 2011, he completed residency training in Combined Internal Medicine-Pediatrics at Hurley Medical Center/Michigan State University. He then began his fellowship in Hematology/Oncology at Michigan State University and graduated in 2014.

Upon completion of his fellowship, Dr. Omaira moved to Kalamazoo and joined the hematology/oncology group at West Michigan Cancer Center. In 2021, he joined Bronson’s Cancer Program in the same region. He has special interest in benign blood disorders and hematologic malignancies.

Dr. Omaira serves as Principal Investigator for several research studies in Southwest Michigan partnering with regional and national research programs such as Cancer Research Consortium of West Michigan (CRCWM), National Cancer Institute Community Oncology Research Program (NCORP), and Dana Farber Cancer Institute to provide new cutting-edge clinical cancer trials to patients in our community.
Dr. Omaira has supervising and teaching responsibilities to residents and medical students, and participates in various educational activities at Western Michigan University Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine.

During his free time, Dr. Omaira enjoys spending time with his wife and three children. They enjoy gardening, cycling, and traveling.
