Clinical Trial Modernization Act Reintroduced

Congressman Raul Ruiz, MD (D-CA-25) and Congressman August Pfluger (R-TX-11) reintroduced H.R. 3521, the Clinical Trial Modernization Act. This bill:

Removes economic barriers to increase clinical trial participation from all populations by allowing sponsors to financially support trial participants.
Facilitates remote participation in clinical trials by allowing trial sponsors to provide patients with digital health technology at no cost to the patient.
Encourages enrollment by underrepresented groups by allowing HHS to issue grants to support community education, outreach, and recruitment, and ensures that up to $2,000 of non-reimbursable financial support from clinical trials sponsors provided to patients is not subject to taxation or counted against income limitations for safety net programs.

This legislation is a step forward in expanding access to clinical trials and driving innovation and the development of new treatments.
