MSPCA Welcomes 186 Participants for Last Chance Webinar
The Maryland State Pest Control Association hosted its Last Chance Webinar on May 28, giving Maryland pest management professionals one more opportunity to earn needed credits before the June 30 renewal deadline. The live webinar drew 186 participants, reflecting the strong need for timely, accessible recertification training at the close of the renewal cycle.
Designed for PMPs working to complete their continuing education requirements, the program provided a full morning of training on topics relevant to daily pest management work, public health, structural protection, and regulatory compliance.
The webinar opened with Commensal Rodent Management, presented by Isabelle Lucero of J.T. Eaton. Her session covered the three top commensal rodent species, rodent physiology and behavior, and practical tools and techniques for rodent management.
John Singletary, ACE, of Nisus presented Pest Control, Insulation and Attic Preservation: Protecting the Home from the Top Down. The session addressed cellulose pesticide insulation, attic sanitation after wildlife or rodent removal, attic safety, R-value considerations, borates for wood preservation, and documentation requirements.
Richard D. Spigler, II, BCE, PHE, of BASF presented Termite Treatment Strategies. His session reviewed termite biology, colony structure, feeding and communication, and treatment options including liquid applications and termite baiting strategies.
Chris Gill, President of Chris Gill Sales & Marketing, presented Mosquito Control & Integrated Mosquito Management Program. His session focused on mosquito species of concern in the Northeast, inspection, breeding sites, adulticide and larvicide programs, and how integrated mosquito management can reduce callbacks and improve long-term results.
The program also included a Maryland Department of Agriculture Update from Alex Lehmann, Certification and Training Coordinator with MDA’s Pesticide Regulation Section. The update covered new laws and regulations, online testing options, CEU requirements, common violations, and ways to address them.
MSPCA thanks Isabelle Lucero, John Singletary, ACE, Richard D. Spigler, II, BCE, PHE, Chris Gill, and Alex Lehmann for sharing their time and expertise. MSPCA also thanks the 186 participants and the companies that made time for this important training.
