Program Description:

Mayors and City Managers of municipalities within Franklin County came together this spring on how best to use their economic development incentives.  At base, these executives seek to use their economic development tools to encourage new jobs and investment.  They are agreeing to end the practice of using incentives to just move companies  around the region without creating jobs.  This panel will discuss the ins-and-outs of the pending agreement, including the types of incentives at issue.  Panelists will offer their opinions and thoughts from various perspectives, including that of participating jurisdictions as well as the private sector.

Speakers will include:

  • Steve Campbell, Director of Regional Growth Initiative, City of Columbus
  • Jeff Harris, Economic Development Manger, City of Worthington
  • Steve Schoeny, Prinicipal, Ice Miller Whiteboard, LLC
