Ryan White |
My name is Ryan White, and I am currently the President-Elect for NANT. I started my dialysis career almost 20 years ago. When I first started I was hired as a temp to do chart audits. Later I was offered a full-time job as a Secretary. I loved the clinic atmosphere and taking care of such wonderful patients. I knew I wanted more. Each time the managers asked for volunteers I raised my hand. I wanted her to know she could depend on me. I began asking questions about everything even if it was out of my scope to gain knowledge. I was then promoted to PCT III Preceptor. I started branching out and talking with the Directors of operations when they came to do QAI once a month. I made sure to ask my manager if I could sit in on QAI to learn about quality. At the time going back to school for nursing was not an option so I reached out to my RVP and informed her of my goals of pursuing my dream of running my own clinic. I also reached out to my senior HR supervisor and would check in with him and ask what can I do to reach my dream. Thanks to volunteering to be on so many new projects and committees, I was able to meet and work with the senior HR Supervisor and build a great working relationship. He even helped me decide which college to go to when I decided to go back for my Bachelor’s Degree in business and Operations Management. I had people who believed in me, even when I didn't believe in myself. The time is always yours and the ball is always in your court. Don’t be afraid to put yourself out there. Introduce yourself to any and everyone. Get active in the Dialysis community. Joining NANT was one of the best decisions I have ever made. The networking is amazing and I am constantly learning. Earlier this year, right before leaving for DTX41, I took a chance and applied for a Facility Administrator position. I was not going to apply at first because I had interviewed for this type of position before and was turned down both times. It was a hard pill to swallow; however, I knew I could be a great leader and FA of my own clinic. I did not give up on myself. I took a chance and applied for the position. When I returned from DTX41, I had a job offer waiting for me in my e-mail! I am now an FA and run my own clinic. My dreams have literally come true. If I can do it so can you! Take a chance on you! Apply for that position, volunteer to speak in front of people, and most of all make sure to set yourself apart from everyone else. You can do it. I believe in you, and remember, Your Moment is Now! |
