Audience Engagement Specialist
WCCB-TV is seeking an Audience Engagement Specialist for local broadcast television programming that is both informative and entertaining.
Key components of this include:
- Developing the station’s audience and brand potential by serving as a collaborative partner to a station’s leadership team.
- Conceptualizing, creating and personally implementing compelling, multiplatform, original, local news promotion campaigns and visual elements. Based on sound predetermined strategy, campaigns must clearly and creatively reach stated goals and reinforce the value of the station’s brand. Concepts must work in all media including TV, digital, social, mobile and within budgeted financial resources.
- Proactively creating opportunities for audiences to connect with the station’s content by developing strategic plans, prioritizing key marketing messages and implementing breakthrough in-broadcast and promotional advertising concepts and strategies.
- Being a bold thinker/innovator for the station while staying abreast of cutting edge tools, promotion trends and campaigns. Collaborate on a regular basis with station’s news director, promotion manager, digital services manager and general manager and as necessary.
- Working with news and promotion teams of creative personnel to execute daily program marketing focus.
Job Requirements:
- At least 3 years audience promotion experience with promotion-specific record of success in the radio or television industry, brand management or marketing/digital/advertising agency.
- Firsthand, working knowledge of on-air and digital promotion production techniques, basic non-linear video editing and familiarity with current production techniques.
- Experience translating broadcast designs and concepts to interactive digital and social media campaigns.
- Prefer hands-on experience in marketing content on both priority on-air linear and other supplementary non-linear platforms, including utilizing and optimizing display marketing campaign; search (SEO and SEM), retargeting, social media, mobile marketing, etc.
- Ability to work with a sense of urgency within a daily deadline oriented fast paced team production environment and juggle multiple projects and priorities at once while motivating that team of producers, talent and other production support personnel.
- Comfortable working non-traditional hours or days.
- Able to coordinate productivity working with teams of creative personnel.
The ideal candidate is inherently creative and curious, living in a state of contemporary pop-culture and local information content that can drive television program audience sampling, recruitment, engagement and retention. The candidate must hold themselves to high professional standards, have a good sense of humor, check any ego at the door and can quickly earn the respect and enthusiastic cooperation of their colleagues.
The candidate is an effective communicator who is able to present and justify thoughts, ideas and decisions in a clear, concise, and appropriate manner. They have excellent verbal and written communication skills and know how to tailor all audio, video and digital communications to the target audience for which it is intended.
Ideal candidates also have a get-it-done can do attitude that persists regardless of obstacles and can foster collaboration and input from the team as a whole. They can easily and consistently implement the creative process and facilitate brainstorming remaining always open to the ideas of others with a sense of how any given project/potential idea may play out in the marketplace.
