Description | North Carolina Public Radio WUNC is hiring for an IT Operations Technician WUNC is headquartered in the Triangle area (Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill) of North Carolina. Position Summary: This position will serve as WUNC's audio manager for all in-studio and remote location audio production requirements which include day to day recording, mixing and mastering for in-studio audio production. This is a mission critical role that will be solely responsible in acquiring and maintaining the quality of product for all in-studio audio productions. The incumbent shall also work with and co-manage studio software and hardware that is dedicated towards in-studio recordings, editing and mastering. Further, knowledge of studio-to-studio connectivity is critical and this position will serve as a knowledgeable resource for others as needed in this area. Finally this position will be involved with studio design and upgrades, along with hardware and software upgrades so that North Carolina Public Radio retains its high quality of sound standards in audio transmissions. Therefore, it is essential for the incumbent to maintain and elevate their knowledge of rapidly evolving audio tools and techniques to successfully perform in this position. Additionally, the position will work autonomously on problem-solving, regular infrastructure maintenance, and backups for smooth operation of the station's workflows. Essential Skills Knowledge and Abilities: Knowledge of computer operating systems and network and the ability to trouble shoot issues and maintain systems over time. Working knowledge of audio equipment typically found in recording and broadcast studios. Working knowledge of managing recordings, editing recordings, connecting guests to studios and using studio control surfaces. Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of trouble shooting, fixing and maintaining studio equipment. Knowledge of designing and carrying out remote broadcasts and recordings. Advanced knowledge in sound and office software. Project Management skills and experience. Documentation and communication skills.
