The International Career Issues Committee changed its name to the Global Connections Committee

Here is the rationale for name change:

Much has been written about the nature of our language when working cross-culturally. It is our belief that the word international suggests nation states, which are often in conflict with one another. The term global suggests the interconnectivity of us as human beings. In other words, it is more humanizing as we discuss human tasks such as career development and counseling.  We added the word "Connections" because we believe that the primary purpose of the committee is to facilitate connections with our colleagues around the world.

NCDA Global Connections Committee - description:

Co-Chairpersons: Brian Hutchison and Vera Chapman

The Global Connections Committee was formed to unite counselors worldwide who have expressed interest and concern about international policies and practices in career development. The committee achieves this goal by playing an active role in hosting global participants at the NCDA Annual Conference, recognizing global leaders through the International Career Practitioner Award, coordinating collaborating with International Career Development Associations as partners in strategic initiatives, and representing issues of global career counseling practice worldwide through information dissemination and advocacy.

The International Career Issues Committee changed its name to the Global Connections Committee effective December, 2014.
