Featured Q&A

Q: What is one key lesson you have learned during your time in pest control?
"It is difficult to choose only one lesson because I have learned so much over the past 22 years. One of the biggest lessons is that there is always room to grow, learn something new and find ways to improve for both your customers and your employees. I have also learned how important it is for people to feel heard and valued. Communication can make or break a company, and taking care of your employees is just as important as taking care of your customers."

Q: In your opinion, why should more women consider joining the pest control industry?
“Women often bring a strong attention to detail, whether they are working in the field or in the office, and both roles are essential to a successful pest control company. We also bring valuable strengths in communication, leadership, organization, customer care, and problem-solving. Thankfully, everyone is different; that is what makes the world go around and what makes a team successful. The pest control industry needs people with different strengths, experiences, and perspectives. There are so many career paths available, and women can learn, grow, lead, and make a real difference in every part of the industry.”

Words of Wisdom

"Believe in the value you bring. You do not have to know everything when you begin, but you must be willing to learn, adapt, and put in the work."

Overcoming & Growing

Q: What does PWIPM mean to you, and why should other women get involved?
"To me, PWIPM means women supporting and encouraging one another, learning from each other’s experiences, and creating more opportunities for women to grow into leadership roles. Pest Management has traditionally been viewed as a male-dominated industry, so it is important for women to see that they belong here and that their contributions are valuable. Getting involved allows us to build relationships, share knowledge, celebrate one another’s successes, and encourage more women to explore everything this industry has to offer.”

On the Job & Off the Clock

Unexpected Bug Scenario:
"While I was working in the field, I was treating inside a customer’s home when they mentioned finding mouse droppings under the kitchen sink. As they continued talking from the living room, I opened the cabinet to inspect and treat the area, and a mouse ran right across my hand!”

How she unwinds:
"I enjoy spending time with my children and family, being involved with my church, coaching my daughter’s basketball team, and supporting my son and his youth fishing team. My family and faith are both very important to me.”
