NC Lien Law Statutes - length of time that we must keep the personal items

A Storage Place - Trent Pitts

I cannot find anything in the NC Lien Law Statutes that pertains to the length of time that we must keep the personal papers, photos, (and even cremation ashes) that we hold after a tenant’s unit has been auctioned. Do you know if North Carolina has a time period that we must store these types of items?

I don't believe it is dictated. I think it just has to be a reasonable amount of time. Typically we will hold things for 30-60 days.

We operate the same as Kevin stated. After auction, if any personal property is returned by the auction bidder, we try to contact the tenant whose unit was sold and then hold the items for 30 days. IF they do not collect, we dispose of.
