For 11750 are we required by CMS to see a patient surgical aftercare within the global period or can we see them 2-3 weeks post phenol procedure?
Per CMS, CPT code 11750 has a global period of ten days; which means the fee associated with the procedure takes into account the post-op care. It is highly recommended that patients be seen during this time as they are entitled to the post-op encounter. While there is no “rule” that mandates this, please note that an auditor would take the post-op encounter into consideration when reviewing your records. If a scheduling conflict prevents the follow up from happening within the post-op period, I would recommend you note this in the chart.
