Is I70.293 no longer an LCD code for Routine Foot Care. Please advise as to which codes are used in its place. It is my understanding that unspecified codes should not be used when a patient has Class Findings including bilateral nonpalpable PT or DP pulses and thick nails, thin skin and no hair on digits. When the patient has PAD and Diabetes with neuropathy or partial amputation should this be the primary systemic diagnosis pointed to? Have the 2020 Guidelines for Routine Foot Care changed to only include Atherosclerosis with claudication, rest pain or ulceration?
As of today, ICD-10 code I70.293 is still a valid diagnosis covered for routine foot care. Please note, effective December 26th, 2019, covered diagnosis codes listed under NGS LCD ID L33636 are now listed under NGS Article ID A57759. There have been no changes in the coding guidelines for routine foot care for 2020 in regard to covered systemic conditions, or where class finding modifiers are required based on the diagnosis reported.
