Correct Billing for Osteotomy w/o Sesamoidectomy

28296 description states with sesamoidectomy, what if you do osteotomy but no sesamoidectomy,

The definition of CPT 28296 is “Correction, hallux valgus (bunionectomy), with sesamoidectomy, when performed; with distal metatarsal osteotomy, any method”. With the definition of this surgical procedure, performing the sesamoidectomy is not required when performing this bunionectomy. It can be billed if the documentation from the op-report supports this level of service.
