I saw a patient in severe pain as owing to diabetic neuropathy greater left.I gave him a PT block.64450 is CPT code.Is ICD code E11. 41 appropriate for the CPT?
If the patient was given a nerve block to help with pain associated with diabetic neuropathy, CPT 64450 would be the most appropriate procedure. This is the most appropriate code given that the injection was not given in a site where a more specific injection code could be used, such as a trigger point or joint injection. The diagnosis of E11.41 for diabetes associated with neuropathy will not justify medical necessity on its own. The diabetic code should be billed with a G code (G60.X or G90.09) to describe the neuropathy diagnosis associated that would justify the need for the injection, along with any applicable pain diagnosis.
