I am trying to get Humana to pay us via EFT, in speaking to them it is in process. My options were virtual card with fee or check they said was free, I chose the check. Upon receipt of the check they are charging us $5 for an envelope. I was not told of this when making the choice. Doesn't their need to be a choice without outrageous fees?
Whether they are allowed to charge for the envelope or not should be covered in your provider agreement with the payer. There is no across-the-board answer that applies to all providers because different providers negotiate different agreements with payers. If you signed an agreement that allows them to charge for the envelope, your options may be limited in contesting this. We suggest you and/or your contract attorney review your provider agreement with this payer to assess their ability to institute this fee.
