This past week, OABA leaders took to Capitol Hill as part of a congressional fly-in alongside our national partner, the Agricultural Retailers Association. The fly-in served as a vital opportunity to advocate for the interests of Ohio’s agribusiness community and engage directly with lawmakers on critical policy issues.
While in Washington, D.C., the OABA delegation met with representatives from six Members of Congress and one U.S. Senate office. Discussions centered around key topics impacting the agricultural industry, including the upcoming Farm Bill hearings, ongoing labor shortages, tax reform, and transportation infrastructure. These conversations allowed OABA leaders to voice the pressing needs of Ohio’s agribusinesses while building relationships with policymakers.
“We appreciate the time and attention given by our congressional leaders to better understand the challenges facing Ohio’s agribusiness community,” said Melinda Witten, OABA President & CEO. “Advocating on behalf of our members is a core part of our mission, and these conversations play a crucial role in shaping policies that support the future of Ohio agriculture.”
Representing OABA during the fly-in were Melinda Witten, OABA President & CEO; Nick Franks of Tyler Feed and Grain, who serves as Vice Chair of the OABA Board; Blake Gates of Morral Companies and board member of the Agricultural Retailers Association; and Brian Mason, President and CEO of the Asmark Institute.
The Ohio AgriBusiness Association remains committed to championing the interests of Ohio’s agribusiness community at both the state and national levels, ensuring that the voices of its members are heard in the policy-making process.
