Description: Cold and flu illnesses are common, but they can present unique risks and challenges for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). In this session, Dr. Unadkat of StationMD will provide an overview of common respiratory illnesses, including how symptoms may present, potential complications, and factors that can place people with IDD at greater risk.
Participants will learn practical approaches to prevention, early recognition and treatment, along with important considerations for caregivers and support teams. The session will also explore when changes in symptoms or behavior may warrant additional medical attention and how informed, proactive care can help reduce complications and support better health outcomes for people with IDD.
This is a remote session that will take place via Zoom. Meeting details will be emailed directly to registrants. All participants must register independently and attend the session live in order to be marked present and receive applicable CPDUs.
