Alex Lomicka

Advocacy Coordinator

Alex Lomicka serves as Advocacy Coordinator, supporting the association’s statewide advocacy initiatives and helping elevate the voices of people with developmental disabilities in policy and leadership spaces. In this role, she works closely with the policy team to identify advocacy opportunities, develop accessible materials, and support outreach efforts that reflect the needs and perspectives of the people the system serves.

A key focus of Alex’s work is supporting people with developmental disabilities who serve on county boards. She also helps coordinate peer connections and roundtable discussions and supports new board members with disabilities as they begin their service.

Alex joined the association in May 2025 and brings both professional experience and lived experience navigating Ohio’s developmental disabilities system. This perspective strengthens her commitment to inclusion, accessibility, and meaningful self-advocacy.

Before joining the association, Alex served as Communications Assistant at Portage DD, where she led awareness campaigns, managed digital content, and supported initiatives focused on community inclusion and advocacy.

Alex holds dual degrees from Kent State University in News/Magazine Journalism and Fashion Merchandising, with a minor in Fashion Media.
