Lisa Comes
SSA Advisor
Lisa Comes (she/her) serves as Service and Support Advisor, where she provides technical assistance, professional development opportunities, and policy advocacy related to the role of Ohio’s more than 2,300 Service and Support Administrators (SSAs). Her work focuses on strengthening the supports and services that help people with developmental disabilities live meaningful, self-directed lives in their communities.
Lisa joined the association in January 2020 after more than 20 years with the Lucas County Board of Developmental Disabilities. During her time there, she served in several roles, including SSA, Eligibility Specialist, and Speech Therapist, gaining extensive experience supporting people and families across the lifespan.
Her areas of expertise include self-directed services, person-centered planning, supported decision-making, and eligibility for county board services.
Lisa holds a Bachelor of Education in Speech and Hearing Therapy from the University of Toledo. She is motivated by helping people with disabilities discover their passions and share them with their communities. This work is deeply meaningful to her both professionally and personally, as her adult son also receives services through Ohio’s developmental disabilities system.
Outside of work, Lisa enjoys traveling and playing pickleball.
