Friday General Session: Emma Dennis
Emma Dennis serves as a board member of the Union County Board of Developmental Disabilities and is an attorney who brings both professional expertise and personal experience to her advocacy for people with disabilities and their families. As someone who is blind, she understands firsthand the challenges people with disabilities may face in accessing services, resources and opportunities.
Dennis earned a bachelor's degree in criminology and psychology from The Ohio State University in 2021 and a Juris Doctor from The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law in 2024. She was admitted to practice law in Ohio in November 2024.
Her personal experience navigating programs and services, including Medicaid waivers, Social Security, Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), Opportunities for Ohioans with Disabilities (OOD) and county boards of developmental disabilities, complements her legal training and informs her commitment to helping people with disabilities overcome barriers and access the supports they need.
Dennis is often accompanied by her guide dog, Pepper, a black Labrador retriever from Leader Dogs for the Blind. When she's off duty, Pepper enjoys treats and her favorite squeaky toys.
