General Assembly Breaks Until After Election

Upon return, legislators face “lame duck” session and a tight timetable to finish legislation

The Ohio General Assembly is effectively in recess until after the November 8 election. When legislators return, there will be a hectic “lame duck” session to pass current legislation before December 31, 2016. Any legislation that is not sent to the Governor’s desk before the New Year will effectively “die” and need to start the legislative process over in 2017.
