On October 6 and 7, at the ACEP Council meeting prior to Scientific Assembly in Denver, the ACEP Council will hold its annual meeting to debate and vote on a series of resolutions to determine ACEP policy.
The Council elects the Board of Directors, Council officers and the president-elect; initiates policy; and shapes the strategic plan of the College. The Council also identifies issues for study and evaluation by the Board and its committees. There is usually a tremendous amount of business to be conducted during the two-day meeting, and several tools are used to facilitate that business.
New policies and changes to existing policy are recommended to the Council in the form of resolutions. Resolutions usually pertain to issues affecting the practice of emergency medicine, advocacy and regulatory issues, Bylaws amendments, Council Standing Rules amendments and College Manual amendments.
Resolutions introduced for discussion at the Council meeting are made available for review 30 days prior to the Council meeting. Visit the ACEP Council website around September 6th to check for the release of the 2012 Council Handbook and Resolutions.
