Board Member Spotlight - Dr. Robert Broida

Broida - Board Member FocusAfter receiving his undergraduate degree from New York University, Dr. Robert Broida attended medical school at the Medical College of Ohio at Toledo and later completed his residency at Case Western Reserve University/St. Luke’s Hospital Trauma Center.

After residency, Dr. Broida visited France, biking from Paris to the Mediterranean, an adventure he still recalls fondly. To this day, he remains an occasional cyclist and maintains a taste for French wines.

Dr. Broida currently works with Emergency Medicine Physicians (EMP), where he serves as COO and Director of EMP's captive insurance company. Throughout his career, he has been active in emergency physician professional liability insurance and is an expert in emergency department quality, operations, patient safety and financial and risk management.

As Ohio ACEP’s Treasurer, Dr. Broida has restructured the Chapter’s budget and helped to ensure its long-term financial stability. He also has a keen interest in politics and policy and serves on the board of Ohio ACEP’s political action committee.

In addition to his work with Ohio ACEP, Broida is active in committees at the national level and was recently named ACEP’s representative to The Joint Commission Hospital Professional Technical Advisory Committee and to the NEMPAC Board of Trustees.

His wife, Randi, is a gourmet chef and accomplished gardener. The Broidas live in the Akron area and have five grown children between the ages of 22 to 26.
