Board Member Focus—Dr. Purva Grover

Dr. Grover In addition to her professional passion for Pediatric Emergency Medicine, Dr. Purva Grover has demonstrated a lifelong dedication to serving her community. She is currently an attending physician at Children’s Hospital of Akron, where she also serves as Director of the Wound Care and Suture Program.

Dr. Grover attended undergraduate school at Santosh Medical College in India, where she received her Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery. She went on to earn her Diploma in Community Health from the National Institute of Health & Family Welfare in India. She then arrived in the United States to complete her pediatric residency at the Hospital of Michigan in Detroit and subsequently completed her Pediatric Emergency Medicine fellowship at Children’s Hospital of Akron.

Throughout her career, Dr. Grover has generously volunteered her time, including service as a volunteer physician at Outreach Free Clinics in Detroit and as a therapist for terminally-ill cancer patients in New Delhi, India. She is a founding member of the Book Club at Children’s Hospital of Akron and was an active participant in a public safety initiative to install free smoke alarms in underserved Detroit neighborhoods.

Dr. Grover is a graduate of Ohio ACEP’s Leadership Development Academy and currently sits on the Chapter’s Board of Directors. She has also served as faculty for Ohio ACEP’s EM Oral Board Review Course and EM Written Board Review Course. She is the Senior Editor of PEM newsletter and administrator for www.PEMNetwork.org.

When she is not working, teaching or volunteering, Dr. Grover enjoys reading and travel, as well as adventure activities like scuba diving and skydiving.
